Ebony Macassar is sourced in the Celebes Islands and Maluka, Bornea. It is very rare as a veneer wood because it only grows to small dimensions. Not all ebonies are classically black. Select ebonies with distinguishing black, brown and tan streaks are sought out for the Ashton Humidors. This striking contrast has a distinctive vibrancy and presence, which, paradoxically, is both subtle and stunning. Includes removeable tray, dividers, a key lock and a humidification device. The Vavona Burl veneer selected for our humidors is sourced in the coastal regions of northern California and southern Oregon from the root of the mammoth tree. Deep dark red in color with a hint of honey gold, only the rarest and most exquisite lace burl forms of the finest quality are selected and used. The design of our Walnut Burl humidor is classically inspired. The character of each piece derives the painstaking attention to detail and the artistic flair of the Master Craftsmen in selecting and book matching only the most exquisite and interesting veneer. The humidor is framed in natural mahogany. The Walnut Burl veneer grows as a wild species in mixed forests ranging from Southern Europe to India having been introduced to Asia Minor by the Romans. It can vary in color from light brown to nearly black, sometimes incorporating the full range of colors in a single piece with dramatic patterns, clusters, figures and swirls.
